After witnessing a disappointment from the first episode of Natsuiro Kiseki, I had to wash the bad taste from my mouth. With that, I decided to watch the first A Channel + Smile OVA, which focuses on a different set of stories compared to the main series that aired last spring.
I think the jokes are better executed than what is shown in the past. I enjoyed every bit of it because it was a long time since we last seen the entire cast. With that, there are three aspects I really enjoyed, which consists of…
1. Kaori’s Injury
I admit that Kaori has an attractive appearance and has a vibrant personality. Sadly, she ends up injuring her hand while hitting the desk, thus she can’t teach to the fullest. Although I never got physically injured in my life, having a disabled hand really sucks, especially if it’s your writing hand. I felt sympathetic towards her while she tries to write on the board and not become deterred by the pain. She eventually gives up and gives half of her job to Tooru.
When she hands the lab coat to Tooru, she reveals a nice body underneath it all. Perhaps she should ditch the coat, although doing so would make her less of a teacher than she already is. Not only that, I laughed when Tooru opens the bag and finds out her kitten had sneaked in. I wonder how it got there…
2. Nagi’s Diet Success
In the last season, Nagi was so subconscious about her weight that she goes on a diet and exercise more, although it ultimately fails. Of course, she isn’t the only one as Rihoko is also like that too. I think both girls look fine as they are and don’t need to diet. Surprisingly, Nagi lost a good amount of weight, which got her excited. Unfortunately, that is not enough and now she wants to lose more despite going to a café to have some sweets with her friends. Isn’t this is a bit counterintuitive since you would gain weight from eating food like that? Nevertheless, I think she should concentrate more on maintaining a healthy diet and exercise considering that muscles tend to weigh more than fat. With that, she should put the effort on the waistline instead.
3. The Café
Seeing Miho in a waitress outfit surprised me since I never thought she would get a part-time job. What really amazed me more is Tooru memorizing the order and reciting it quickly while her friend talks about Run. Not only that, Miho gets the whole thing correct. I know that waitresses and waiters sometime gets the orders wrong, but it takes mad skills to get an order right while talking with someone else. Also, she runs into Yukata, who is a constant nuisance as always.
As a whole, I really enjoyed the first OVA. After watching it, I kind of wanted pancakes, although I don’t have any to make. With that, it leaves one more episode in the future and I wonder what kind of things they would do…
