At last, the Bentenmaru have reached the ghost ship. With that, most people wonder about Gruier’s motives.
When they head to their intended location, the inside is very interesting. Aside from the tubes that go to various places, Serenity has preserved a lot of stuff including a model of their civilization. This is usually the stuff that dies out, but it’s interesting how they managed to stuff it within a ship. Still, you can see that most of their treasures got sold off because their poor economic status. In addition, they preserved the animals that lived on their planet along with the DNA. This will become a reality in the future since it’s already done in real life with cloning (think Dolly the Sheep). Still, bringing the animals to the newly terraformed planet won’t make the planet feel exactly the same like the home planet, but rather a clone.
It’s kind of surprising to find out the princesses’ motives with the rose. Apparently Gruier wants to destroy it since she believes that the royal family no longer has a role while Grunhilde wants to protect it. It doesn’t really make much sense on why she wants to destroy it in the first place with the possibility of killing the child inside. Thankfully, both got knocked out so the adults can negotiate and the results are not surprising. It seems that Pirates weren’t the bad guys and decided to protect the rose against Gruier’s will. It wouldn’t have mattered since the last child came out of it, thus the rose became permanently inactive. In a way, you can say Marika has sold her out to Grunhilde, but both won at the end without any bloodshed. Even so, the Anime was pretty thin on the details since the original source material revealed more information about the flower, thus more of Gruier’s motivations. Sadly, I won’t spoil it since most haven’t read it, but if you insist…
If Gruier really wanted to destroy the rose that badly, she should have hired Chiaki instead! She would have destroyed it in an instant.
With the conflict between the two over, the golden ghost ship now heads back to its rightful owner. Therefore, it ends another exciting adventure with the two girls making up. Since they are now going to the same school as Marika, I wonder how Marika will deal with that.
