As Junichi gets dragged into training camp, will Ai lose out on her Christmas Eve date that she looked forward to? We’ll just have to wait and see…
Needless to say, it’s somewhat depressing to see Ai all alone on her faithful day. With Junichi growing anxious at camp, he couldn’t take it and had to escape. It’s amazing how he got the guts to sneak out in order to go on a date with his girlfriend. Not only that, it’s amusing how the instructors dressed as secret agents are out to find him. Thankfully, his friend saves the day by misleading them. Even so, I felt that her depression in the first half was too exaggerated despite turning out well shortly after.
Aside from that, he finally buys her a new jacket to replace her bubble jacket as a present. When I saw her wearing the new coat, it’s style somewhat similar to the one Yukiho wears if you don’t have fluffy stuff. Still, Ai definitely looks better compared to her old one. In addition to that, he takes her to other places and unintentionally walks into the hotel district. They also ran into his teacher and quickly escaped while Umehara hits on her. That one scene just made my day as it made me laugh so hard that I fell out of my chair, literally.
Overall, the date in the after arc felt somewhat dull from the one in the first season. However, I expected this considering that their relationship was already fully developed. On the other hand, the ending was sweet as them living together years later. Therefore, I’ll give it a pass since her after arc was a huge improvement over the one in the first season. Also, the scene with Miya using Sae’s chest as a pillow was also a treat since it looked so naughty. I guess we can’t blame her since she still suffers self-esteem issues regarding her bust size.
For next time, it looks like we skipping Sae for now and going for Kaoru. From that, I expect some more excitement from where they left off.
