Apparently, all the military and police is after Marika over the possibility of her becoming a captain of a pirate ship. Along with that, the Space Yacht Club prepares for a mission.
Needless to say, it was odd how other people started spying on Marika so suddenly and even planned to kidnap her. Since she only heard about the captain thing a day ago, they can’t possibly find out quickly, unless they were spying. Aside from that, what’s interesting about her mother is that she was born in space, which is a reason why she was a space pirate. Her mother apparently takes her to a deserted plot of land and shows how she fired the big laser guns, which looked amazing. She also teaches her daughter how to fire one, but a smaller one and she managed to make a hole in an old tank. When Marika is ready to decide, hopefully she will continue lending her support.
The second interesting thing that happened in this episode is Kane McDougal becoming the advisor for the Space Yacht Club. It seems eerily suspicious because of his association with the whole space pirate thing. Perhaps he took that position so he can easily recruit girls for Marika. Even so, he received a tour of the practice ship while everyone else prepared for the practice mission in space.
Aside from that, the second episode along with the next few episodes will feel like a tutorial of some sort. By the end of this practice, Marika might make up her mind about the captain thing. Still, there was something about her character that fascinated me and this was her determination. When Chiaki found someone hacking the ship’s system, Marika wanted to attack the enemy using cyber warfare even though she lacks the skills. It seems very illogical since there is a big chance for failure, but hey… it’s her decision! Let her face the consequences if it completely fails and damages the practice ship’s computer system.
