From last time, Rider decided to crash Saber’s and Lancer’s duel and invites the other servants to introduce themselves.
After the triumphant entrance Iskander/Rider made in the last episode, practically all the servants makes an appearance with Caster watching through a crystal ball. It also appears that Weaver’s teacher, Lord El-Melloi joined the Grail War after he found out that one of his artifacts got stolen. Then again, he deserves it for being a jerk ass for ripping up Weaver’s thesis in front of class to embarrass him. Weaver stealing the artifact to prove himself and retaliate against his teacher was a result of this. Not only that, El-Melloi and Tokiomi decides to use up one of their command spells this early in the war. The spell used on Lancer to assist Beserker against Saber was very foolish in the end since his plan gets spoiled instantly.
Aside from the commotion, Archer and Beserker face off with each other for the first time. In their confrontation, they show off their powerful Noble Phantasm. Although short, the battle against them was intense and finally showed Beserker in action. The intent of the battle is obvious as shown in Episode 1 when Matou wants to avenge against Tokiomi for giving up one of his childhood friend’s daughter. Thus, he has to take down Archer to prove his point. Unfortunately, his servant goes out of control after Archer leaves and decides to go after Saber instead. No matter how you look at it, it seems that everyone wants a piece of her, mostly because she is the only female servant in the war. Thankfully, Rider prevented the situation from getting worse by running down Beserker with his carriage.
Needless to say, Rider continues to steal all the attention away from the other servants in the Grail War through his awesomeness. Sure, Saber and Irisvel makes a great pair, but not on the same level as Rider and Weaver. Beside those duos, I don’t get the same feeling from the other masters and servants. Except for Kiritsugu who will change later on when he gets developed more, the rest of the masters either don’t capture the same attention or they are jerks, most notably Tokiomi, El-Melloi and Kirei. Obviously, Caster remains creepy as ever, especially now since he becomes obsessed over wanting to marry Saber. That just grosses me out.
Gilgamesh vs Berserker was really well done but the CG for Berserker doesn’t fit with the rest imo.
