As the start of the 4th Grail War nears, Irisvel along with Saber finally arrives at Fuyuki City. They decide to go sightseeing before the fights begin.
If you recall the disastrous defeat of Assassin at the end of the last episode, it’s obvious that it’s a diversion to lure Tokiomi’s servant, Archer out. Also, it allows Kirei to pull out of the war and seek shelter without actually doing so to fool everyone. This is mostly because he has so many familiars of Assassin to take advantage of and not only just the one he controlled originally. Either way, he is really devious considering his connections and that he’s want to catch everyone off guard intentionally.
Meanwhile, Weaver and Rider brought a lot of amusement underneath the seriousness. Basically, Weaver got excited about the news of Assassin’s defeat with Rider shrugging it off and saying it’s not a big deal. He was essentially stuffing his face while being fixated at the TV and fascinated by the B-2 fighter jets and Tomahawks. Then, he went around and shared his desire to defeat Bill Clinton. Aside from the various scandals from the Clinton family, he is simply the strong-arm of US foreign policy. Therefore, I highly doubt that Rider can go in and fight against the US Army. Still, that line was still funny and it looks like the bullying of Weaver will continue as they perch themselves on top of the bridge.
For Irisvel and Saber, they finally arrive at their destination after sitting on the plane for hours. This is the first time where we get to see Saber in a male business suit and it looks badass. Aside from that, it’s very disheartening that Iris’s husband, Kiritsugu never takes her to the outside world and has her stay in the mansion. He forced her to stay since she is a human-like puppet made especially for the war. It’s kind of sad if you think about it. To make matters worse, Maiya eventually kisses him as he prepares the smuggled weapons. Although she has done it to relieve his guilt over using Ilya, it was still questionable even though I doubt it’s motivated by romance.
Overall, it was nice to see Iris and Saber have some bonding time with each other and explore the city. The scene on the beach before the battle between Saber and Lancer was exceptionally pretty. Besides from that, this episode was subtle and it looks like all the excitement starts will in the next episode. I look forward to it!
If I remember correctly it wasn’t that kiritsugu who wanted her to stay in the mansion her whole life but the whole Einsberns family who did that.
