From Jun’s surprising request to have Shinichiro to go out with his sister, it seems like he doesn’t understand why. When he intervenes in Hiromi’s love life, well things get ugly rather quickly.
It’s obvious that Shinchiro doesn’t seem to grasp the idea of going out Noe yet since he views her as a friend. What I noticed throughout this episode is that he makes two different lies to these girls. First, he tells one to Noe so he can avoid her, but she finds out anyway. Second and most importantly, he goes into Hiromi’s room one night to say that Jun finds her cute, but it doesn’t go well. From their reactions, I have noticed something different as Noe becomes interested in him while Hiromi continues to act cold towards him and keep her feelings in her heart. The confrontation in her room with Shinchiro particularly caught my attention as it explains the underlining conflict in the family.
For a while now, Shinichiro’s mother has been hostile towards Hiromi and tries to isolate her. When Shinichiro came into Hiromi’s room to tell something about Jun, it reveals something about his dysfunctional family. When she heard his lies, she knew in her heart that Jun wasn’t the guy that she looked for, but Shinichiro instead. Also, she reacted this way to not get him into trouble. With her behavior and her head cut out from one of the pictures in the family album, it’s apparent that the mother still disapproves the idea of taking care of her. Even though we don’t know why she feels this way, she doesn’t realize that this is taking a toll on her son’s feelings. For this reason, Shinichiro requested Jun to go out with Hiromi so that she will return to her former self. Either way, the drama has finally started and I expect things will break down once the dating starts as the love triangle tension builds.
