After focusing heavily on the side characters, plot finally returns when Enishi and Takako decides to marry each other. Unfortunately, the planning of their wedding sparks some love triangle drama between Minko, Ohana and Tooru. Poo has certainly hit the fan for sure!
From the very start, I was expecting Enishi and Takako to marry since they have strong feelings for each other. Sure, Tomoe teased him because he liked girls that are similar to his sister, but maybe this was the reason. At first, Enishi lacked self-confidence and often relied on other people to cover it up. He eventually grown a backbone and became more responsible when he took control of a project that was a scam. While Sui didn’t like Takako because she gives bad advice, she changes her mind. She felt that Takako would give her son the support he needs to give him a better future.
On the other hand, things don’t look good for Minko as her feelings for Tooru hits a fever pitch. While it’s funny to see her reaction when he wanted five children and the thought of stopping at a love hotel, everything started to deteriorate when they stop at the beach. He complimented on how she is starting to act like Ohana. He also praised Ohana for changing the atmosphere at the inn for the better. When he said this to her, it simply gave me an “Oh crap!” moment as Minko is going to treat Ohana like a punching bag for stealing her love interest.
While Tooru romantic feelings for Ohana is still unclear, Minko unfortunately devolves as a character and returns to her unlikable self from Episode 1 through this big misunderstanding. This eventually leaves us with a catfight in the shower between Ohana and Minko similar to the one in True Tears. Although the fight brought a lot of juicy drama, her accusations of Ohana being a burden to everyone aren’t justified. Sure Ohana caused some trouble in the beginning, but she was very helpful in helping everyone get through the challenges they face at the inn. She accomplished this without taking advantage of anyone and using her intuition along with her bold personality. However, I think that Minko is the problem since it’s obvious that she is dragging everyone down with her harsh attitude. She is also a parasitic towards Tooru since she is still inexperienced and has to rely on him for help. For this very reason, it makes me want Ohana to slap some sense into her. If love between them were that powerful, Minko wouldn’t have been so hesitant and confessed in front of him. Taking it out on Ohana pretty much shows that she is still insecure and crazy for getting upset over a silly high school crush.
Despite all the drama between the two girls, it’s apparent that Sui doesn’t want to give the inn to Enishi and Takako. Through her hard work of getting married to a chief that she worked with, she feels that their efforts shouldn’t be wasted. She wants someone who can carry the legacy. Since she hasn’t specifically reveal the heir to the inn, it leaves a lot of uncertainty. Sure Ohana would be a good candidate since she is a hard worker. However, Sui may not consider since she wants her granddaughter to enjoy her youth. Either way, we will find out sooner or later.
Minko returning to her episode one bitchiness was pretty annoying, but the thing I did like was how Ohana handled it. Instead of becoming all depressed and worrying about Minko she mostly just ignored her, and went to eat lunch with her other friends. Now the tables are turned from episode one and Minko is the one without any friends.
She has become my least favorite out of the girls… Sure Yuina doesn’t really do anything but look pretty, but at least she is not annoying.
The big problem with Minko is that she doesn’t really treat anyone that friendly and has to rely on people for her own benefit. Ohana changed her by making her more open, but it’s something she takes for granted. It’s obvious that Ohana’s still likes Ko, so there isn’t really a reason why Minko should be afraid of confessing to Tooru.. It’s definitely a self esteem issue.
Knowing Okada, she will probably add another True Tears-esque catfight scene before this is done and over with.
