With Durandai’s true identity finally uncovered with the attempted kidnap of Shirayuki, the real battle begins.
Since this is JC Staff, they don’t always adapt the battles the same way as shown in the light novels. Durandai (Jeanne d’Arc the 30th) and Shirayuki (Himiko) simply fought each other with their swords, which is kind of ironic since they are both Choutei. You would have expect them to use their magical powers to their fullest potential, but unfortunately JC Staff likes their fights physical. Also, you cannot deny that Jeanne’s outfit and appearance was highly attractive. Then again, Shirayuki was badass adorable in her alternate persona, especially when she slices Jeanne’s holy sword in half in the end. As they always say, fire will always beat ice!
Like always, Kinji always gives a second chance of showing his love for the girls in his harem by finally kissing Shirayuki who desperately wanted a kiss from the last episode. I kind of expected it because this is one of the many romantic actions that activate his Hysteria Mode, which makes him awesome within minutes. Sadly though, Kinji in his Hysteria Mode felt completely different compared to his personality shown in Episodes 4 & 5, as he was kind and gentle. Despite the slight disappointment, Shirayuki was happy she is finally even with Aria when they become allies in the fight against Riko. May her yandere personality and overreactions continue to live on!
Since I have mentioned Riko, it appears that Jeanne is really not after Shirayuki. She basically used the whole Choutei kidnapping thing as an opportunity to lure Aria into her trap and have Jeanne kill her. Basically, Riko is letting her ally do the dirty work as she sits on the sideline. Sadly though, Aria and her allies foiled their plan and with Jeanne arrested, she might have to take things into her own hands and try to steal Kinji again in his growing harem.
Not a bad episode! And the armor girl lolol totally the same armor Saber wears from Fate Stay Night and similar to Yuu from Kore wa Zombie desk ka.
Either way what’s up not bad still not the best show ever, however I will watch just to see Aria hahaha
Since you mentioned Fate/Stay Night, I am actually watching that… but only got to watch the first episode on the DVD…
Hidan no Aria is enjoyable from what I have watched thus far, but still not the best JC Staff production… Excluding Hayate no Gotoku, Milky Holmes still holds the top position mainly because it’s fresh and doesn’t contain the usual typical male lead & tsundere girl that is beaten to death by now. Still, JC Staff shows are still fun mindless entertainment to me.
This was a pretty alright epsiode, but J.C staff sort of half-baked this one in terms of novel content from what I gleaned. Although, the directors did do a alright job of making it cohesive with the novelization. Looking forward to the next epsiode.
I haven’t read the Hidan no Aria light novels, but I did take a look at the translations and some of the parts in the adaptation are the same. Then again, I don’t expect them to fit everything since it’s only a 1-cour season show.
