The cake is a lie! Garuda (also known as Karura) wasted them on his so-called war against mankind!
I know… the cake jokes from Portal are hammered to death by now, but I just cannot resist.
This episode was utterly funny while at the same time confusing. The problem I saw within the first three minutes is when they throw some fanservice during Karura’s taking over the body that was previously used by Hiyato. The gratuitous fanservice scenes mainly consisted of Asuka, Kobato, Naru and Hiyoko all wearing revealing Santa outfits for a commercial gig and playing a game of twister afterwards with breast grabbing included. While the segments were mildly funny, it broke the mood of what’s happening with Karura and Hiyato that I lost all concentration. If you going to do a fanservice segment, please don’t do it when you are telling important or otherwise, any development will go to waste!
Besides the fanservice, Karura who tries to act like a king is shown to be a person without any social skills… Telling people that he wants to masturbate and throwing cakes is never a proper way to communicate with other people, especially around girls. While the cake fights are amusing, I was saddened considering how expensive cakes are and how those wasted cakes could be used to stop world hunger or be eaten for pleasure. To put the cherry on top of the cake, he acts like a total pervert when he essentially molests Kobato. While it may look funny, it seems that Karura does not have a grasp on how immoral sexual harassment is even if she isn’t too bothered by it. Then again, look on the bright side! At least he released control of the body for her sake, so there is no harm done in the end of the day.
Love the reference. 🙂
Cake fight! So damn funny I died laughing so hard hahaha
You thought so? GLaDOS wasn’t too amused when Karura was wasting all those Christmas cakes. Then again, something like this is an extremely rare and ridiculous occurrence, so I guess it’s easy to laugh at this, like everything else in Oretachi…
I just can’t be bothered with this show anymore. I tried watching this episode, and my brain broke so hard that I actually had to look up an FAQ to finish one of the puzzles in Penumbra. YOU’RE KILLING BRAINCELLS, ORETSUBA!
Look on the bright side, there is only 5 more episodes of this left before I can write a review on it… and it doesn’t look pretty. :p
