While I wait for the live watching of Madoka Magica Episodes 11-12, I decided to watch a more ordinary slice of life comedy of Nichijou.
Poor Yukko, It seems that she is getting shafted in every moment possible. On her way to school, Mai ignores her. This causes her to think that Mai is mad at her and starts apologizing with various food products. Later, she asks Mai to copy her homework and she was handed comic strips and the wrong homework assignment instead. From this, it seems that she hasn’t learned her lesson from the last incident of copying homework from Mio. To make Yukko’s day even worse, Mai beats her at every attempt of arm wrestling. Watching her get defeated brutally was extremely hilarious, especially when she took everything to the extreme and still lost. Then again, I felt sorry for her since she has to buy 23 juice boxes for Mai after those defeats…
Lastly, the talking cat was one of the funniest and cutest moments in this episode. Nano simply spots it on her way home, but doesn’t take it. Then the Professor brought it to her house, which Nano notices. Then, Nano and the Professor started fighting over where is the best area to pet the cat. Their reactions were so cute that I got a moe nosebleed~. Later, the Professor comes up a scarf that allows the cat to speak and puts it on. When he speaks, he reminds me of the talking cat named Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service. Oh, he only wanted food and not to be excessively petted.
While the comedy in this episode of Nichijou pales in comparison to Episode 2, I still enjoyed the funny antics of the girls. The jokes are still a hit and miss, but they are getting better.
In short, don’t compare Nichijou to previous Kyoto Animation slice of life shows. It has a rather unique setup and it stands well on its own. Therefore, I will continue to watch this.
Episode three! OMG So good and agreed Nano and Hakase with the cat was pure cute! Hahaha so good 😛
Arm wresting was pretty pro as well so funny 😛
