Most of you should know that Kyoko is no longer with us after she faceed a battle with Sayaka who became a witch. Kyoko is one of my favorite characters in Madoka Magica since she is strong willed and kind in the inside. Therefore, I want to give a tribute to Kyoko for being kind and strong person who genuinely cares about Sayaka. (Image Source)
Kyoko used to be very tsuntsun, especially when it comes to her rivalry. After Sayaka lost her Soul Gem, Kyoko has realized that Sayaka is facing a similar situation. With her, she reveals her tragic past of helping her father through a wish. She only wanted her father to become successful so that the Church can get more followers and they can have food on the table. Sadly, the followers were fabricated, which eventually led to her father revealing her secret of being a magical girl. This causes him to kill her family. Her wish was basically a bad ending, which results in her isolation and violent behavior.
On the other hand, I felt that Sayaka in a certain degree has changed Kyoko’s outlook. Since she went through the same experiences, she did not want to see Sayaka suffer the same fate. Kyoko was also worried about Sayaka’s impact on Madoka if she continues to destroy herself. Unfortunately, it happened since Sayaka refused to accept Kyoko’s advice and became a witch. In a sense, Sayaka transformation into a witch had a bigger impact on Kyoko since couldn’t prevent the tragedy. After the transformation, she just refused the fact that Sayaka is gone and wanted to try something that might bring her back to normal. She still had hope and determination, even though it’s impossible to change Sayaka back.
It was expected that Kyoko would sacrificed herself so she can be with Sayaka. Besides from making the same mistakes, Kyoko was very sympathetic towards Sayaka since she was betrayed by her friends and thus could not trust them until she reached the point of no return. By sacrificing herself, Kyoko can join her so that Sayaka will never be alone in the afterlife. This is shown in the last lines before she throws her Soul Gem to go down together. That line where she shows her true or rather romantic feelings for her makes it meaningful.
After watching this episode, Kyoko still has a place in my heart for the actions she took and the change of personality. She demonstrated kindness and determination after she saw the light. It was sad to see her go, but I hope she will have a good afterlife after the hardships she went through.
At least she no longer has to live a depressing life.
And my icon will live on.
Oh I see you have a thing for tsuntsun characters 😉
sniff it was sad, I really liked Kyoko too, I hope she comes back to life somehow~ Sayaka didn’t seem to appreciate all the things that everyone was doing for her, she should have been more grateful >_>
Actually…
It’s pretty noticeable that I <3 tsunderes… they are feisty yes, but really kind in the inside… also, I like the male leads getting abused by them.
