It has been awhile since I watched Amagami SS. The reason I fell behind because I was busy with the fall anime. This is why I did not focus on writing about Nanasaki Ai’s arc in great detail, as I originally wanted to. Since I have some free time today, I took the time to finish it. After I finished the remaining two episodes in her arc, I was very disappointed for reasons I am going to explain. 1
At first, Nanasaki’s arc looked promising since she had a very nice and kinky personality. However, after the second episode, the story’s quality went downhill instantaneously. Her arc suffered from a lack of excitement compared to the last arcs and poor narration. It was a shame the arc ended like that since Nanasaki was a very likable character by the way she teases Junichi. Not to mention, the water element helps to set the theme for the story since she is a swimmer and likes being in the water.
What bothered me a bit about this arc is the Nanasaki turns into a bowl of Miso soup scene in the horror house that they went together. The whole scene was pretty ridiculous and completely random. From watching this, I am going to think that my girlfriend is a bowl of ramen and I need to put butter in it in order to eat her… Probably my girlfriend would slap me and run away crying from that reaction. Just remember when you date a girl or guy that they do not want to be degraded to something like ramen. Believe me, it gives really bad results.
Unlike the last three arcs, Junichi pretty much developed his relationship with Nanasaki on his own. This is proven when Junichi chased Nanasaki at the pool and his confession to her at the hot springs. She eventually kisses him there while she was completely naked and Junichi liked it. The confession and the kissing scenes were probably the only best scenes out of her arc, which is actually very disappointing.
Overall, there is not much to say about this arc. This is probably the most disappointing arc in the whole anime adaption with Haruka’s being the second. It simply lacked energy, which made it feel like something was missing. Hopefully Rihoko’s arc will not disappoint me like this one…
At least Sae’s arc was entertaining because of all the comedy with her, even though her voice could be annoying at times.

This is the second review of this arc I’ve seen that put it down… and that’s not a complaint. I can only concur with the lack of energy. Well, that and the ramen thing… ^^; I understand that taking things to a very strange degree isn’t absolutely unheard of in Japan even for this kind of show (and the game it’s based on) but yes, random to an extreme. Also the first half of the last ep was sleepwalking until the springs part. Fair criticisms all.
I still like the girl, and I wasn’t expecting huge things from the arc etc., but I think I’m being more forgiving of it than some.
The girl is pretty likable, even though the adaptation is meeeeh… Unfortunately her arc fell in the Anime Adaption Decay Syndrome, which is such a shame. The Manga and the Visual Novel covered it better, but this is what you get when you use an omnibus story format. :/
I liked this acr the most cause it represents the Nanasaki character very well.
