Sakura, the fangirl of this Indie band… We knew this was coming by the preview shown in the last episode. Don’t worry, it’s a bit better than the mediocre Girls Dead Monster singles I reviewed. It seems like anime these days starting to include some sort of band. First Suzumiya Haruhi, next K-ON, then Angel Beats and now, Kaichou wa Maid-sama… I think I lost track now! :p
Sakura is really cute and innocent! However, does she deserve what coming beyond the horizon? We will find out!
Like I mentioned in K-ON!! Episode 7, I talked about fangirls when the fangirls were squealing for Mio. In Kaichou wa Maid-sama, they are now squealing for this indie all male high school band. It seems that Sakura has a crush on the lead singer, Kuuga, which looks somewhat like Usui… Oh crap! Misaki, Sakura and even Shizuko, who is uninterested in the whole thing holds a tea party which the band comes. The party becomes filled with some drama…
Love and Romance is complicated as finding the perfect person seems to be harder than it is. In this case, Sakura fell into the trap because appearance isn’t everything. Personality matters too because the person can be the most attractive, but they could be manipulative or even nasty behind the nice guy personality. Kuuga shows this when he doesn’t give any regard to Sakura’s feelings because he likes Misaki instead. It’s just like that rich jerk Igarashi who try to use Misaki as his girl in Episode 8, which didn’t turn out as planned.
In the second half, Kuuga who has interest in Misaki knows that she is the student council president. Thus he puts more pressure on Misaki and upsetting Sakura until she couldn’t take it… When Sakura flips out, Misaki flips out too and saying that she hates Kuuga for trampling over Sakura’s feelings.
The moral of the story? Stay away from jerks who don’t give a shit about the feelings of a girl who has a crush on them. The way Kuuga handled the whole situation was despicable. Sakura doesn’t deserve to be treated like a piece of paper just because Kuuga isn’t interested in her. He could have handled it in a civil manner that wouldn’t hurt her feelings that much, but no. This is probably why Shizuko seems to be uninterested in the whole situation and then flips out at Misaki and Sakura in the end.
Like Usui patting Misaki on the head in an earlier scene, Misaki does it to Sakura, which makes her say this:
Next time, I’ll choose someone who will pat my head like this.
This have some significance as people who pat a person on a head is a kind gesture, something like understanding of feelings for a person or encouragement. This probably means she is looking for a kind person who understands her and her feelings. If that happens, it will probably be a good romantic relationship. Heck, when Misaki sees Usui when she was walking home, she remembered that Usui patted her on the head and she goes tsundere… Usui taught her well… lol…
Overall, I think this is a good episode and as the episode suggest… just don’t fall for someone because of looks since personality and getting along with each other is important as well.
Next Episode: Usui’s secret revealed? Oh boy…
Verdict
8.8/10
I like the way you put it (someone who really cares for you), but is someone who pats you on the head really that great? It kind of seems like the way you would comfort a child to me. Oh well, minor complaint about a very enjoyable series.
I don’t know since I haven’t really got a pat on the head recently, so I really don’t know that feeling. :p
