More on Rio and her family connections…
Well, the tank finally gets the legs and is almost fully functional… Now it looks more like a spider tank, but we learn more on Rio’s family ties. The grandmother is related to her and she tells a flash back on how she met that guy and had a child, but was taken away from her. It was a rather sad and heartbreaking memory of course. In the morning, she was gone and Kanata and Rio doesn’t know where she went off.
We know from this episode that Rio does have some connection to Princess Iliya. She is related, but is a illegitimate child, which is probably why she didn’t get along with her father and we get a hint about that also when the storekeeper mentions it. We also learn that the woman that Kanata mets in her childhood is Iliya, of course.
In the end, Rio decides to leave although she didn’t want to, but for the best. They play the signature song, Amazing Grace and Rio leaves her trumpet with Kanata.
The episode was fantastic and probably one of best besides Episode 7 in terms of story. I’m still amazed on how they pull off a rather interesting story without the cop out storylines. This just proves that sometimes, Anime Originals are sometimes turn out better than Anime adaptations where people seems to complain about the source material being different in the Anime.
Also, I find the flashback resembling something from the Roaring Twenties where Seize was some vacation town and everyone having a happy and fun time.
Also, do you remember this Owl?
Anyways, the next two or three episodes suggest that something serious will be building up. What is it? We will find out in the next and exciting episode. However, I might have to rewatch the whole season once the bonus episodes comes out to get the full gist of the story.
Verdict
9.4/10
