After being sidetracked by the rage of Haruhi and also playing Kanon all day long, I almost forgot to post about Air Episode 5 for nearly 5 days (which is a coincidence, Ahaha~)… But yes, Episode 5 starts Minagi’s arc and it finally reveals more about the Astronomy club, which she is the only member… It seems that there is another very familiar character from another familiar series made by the same company who does the same activity that normally most students won’t normally participate (hint: She have purple-blueish hair and wear childish orbs in her hair).
Summary
After rescuing Kano, it’s another day… After Yuikto took Misuzu to school and finish with his work, he visited Minagi and Michiru.
Yukito asks Minagi if she have seen Misuzu but she said no. After Michiru made a remark about food tomorrow, Yukito and her get into a cheek-stretching fight. After Michuru let go, Yukito landed on the food and have to take a shower. Then Minagi reveals that her father used to work as a stationmaster. After, Minagi gives another rice coupon and a bottle of star sand. The star sand she had was given by her father when she is a little child.
After, the head back to school to the locker, but it was revealed that Misuzu already left. At night, they have a astronomy club meeting and started to look at stars. Minagi reveals that she is the only one in the club and it was the first time she brought Michiru up to the roof. The reason she wanted to bring herself, Michiru, and Yukito since she wanted all of them to observe the night sky because Michuru seems to like Yukito although he doesn’t seem to, since she is Minagi’s other half since Minagi spends so much time with her.
After Michuru parted, Yukito takes Minagi home, but when they reach home, her mother comes out and Yukito reveals that he helped him carry the rice bag. When her mom calls her “Michuru”, Yukito then becomes shocked by it.
Yukito finally arrives home and after waking Misuzu, while Yukito was watching TV, Misuzu wants to play cards with Yukito, but all the sudden, she mysteriously started to cry and break down. Haruko comes in and tries to calm her down. Then, while Yukito was walking with Haruko, it revealed that it wasn’t the first time that it happened to Misuzu and it happened when she got close to someone. Then, Yukito decides to move out after that.
After walking to school, Yukito waited for Minagi with Michuru, but never came.
After walking Misuzu back from school, Yukito visited Tohno residence again for her daughter, but her mom said she doesn’t have a daughter and shut the door. Then, Hijiri reveals that Minagi’s mother have a mental condition after losing her 2nd child which caused her to erased Minagi from her mind. Later that night, Minagi tells the story about her past revealing that she was separated from her mother and the baby susposed to fill the void, but she couldn’t accept it when she lost her baby and that day on, she forgot about Minagi. It was the end of Minagi’s dream after she was living as Michiru.
My wings have forgotten how to fly.
This is because she only continued to pretend to fly… and asked the purpose to those wings that cannot fly.
Thoughts
Although the earlier episodes we learn some about Minagi, we learned alot more about her rather sad past… and I can’t stop to wonder how much more she resembles Kotomi or rather Kotomi resembling Minagi because there is alot of things they share with each other (which is the main reason Minagi is one of my favorite character beside her elegance)… Although the overall basis of this episode is rather melancholic… atleast it still have some comedy with Michuru…
