Gotta love that expression…
Since Spring Semester is over, I have decided to resume watching of Anime full time…
Synopsis and Thoughts
It’s the 1000th Summer and Yukito arrives at his destination and he is without any money and have nothing to eat.
Suddenly a group of young children came, and he decided to do a puppet show using his magic. However, the kind aren’t willing to pay because the doll is filthy. The remarks started to make Yukito angry.
With the children scared with out of their wits, the boy kicks the puppet and they ran away.
Unable to find a place to stay and eat, he slept on the sea wall. While sleeping, a seagull went onto his face which woke him up. After he woke up, he saw a mysterious girl standing beside him.
Afterwards, Misuzu greets herself and comes near Yukito.
Yukito not knowing who she is and why she is here, Misuzu sees that Yukito is thirsty and goes and get a drink. On her way back, with her clumsy self, falls onto the ground. After she went up, she hands the drink to Yukito. He puts the straw into the drink and sip it. After tasting it, he spits it out and realizing it’s… EXTRA THICK PEACH JUICE?!
While draining the box, Misuzu becomes upset and asks why he did that and then he yelled at her and asks why shes making a fool out himself. Misuzu then said that she wasn’t and she really thinks that the “Extra Thick Peach Juice” is delicious.
Afterwards, Misuzu asks Yukito if he wanted to go to the beach to play because she saw children playing on the beach and it would be nice to play with Yukito after he woke up. Misuzu then tells him that she was watching him sleeping and poked him a few times for him to wake up, but didn’t because of his hunger. As they walk, Yukito realized that his puppet have gone missing.
As they finding it, Misuzu gets exhausted and Yukito told her to go home. Then, a crow with the doll appeared and Misuzu goes after the crow.
After getting the doll back from the crow, Misuzu still asks him if he wanted to play on the beach with her and wants to be friends with each other, but he doesn’t even know her and they introduced each other… but with his stomach rumbling, Misuzu takes him to her home to go eat. While he eating, she asks him again, but he doesn’t have a place to stay. Afterwards, Misuzu offers her to stay at her place after she asks her mom, which comes home very late from work.
Afterwards, her mom comes home, outraged because she doesn’t want a stranger staying at her house. Then, she asks Yukito how he know Misuzu… but she let him stay in the shed as long he drinks with her. After drinking and talking with each other, he shows his puppet, but it’s not funny. After hearing that, he want to sleep, but Haruko tells him to come back. Then she introduces himself and later tells him to look after Misuzu and have her stop saying “Gao~” .
The next day, Yukito after breakfast takes Misuzu to school. Before going to school, she draws something on a sketch pad and gives it to Yukito and he promises that he will meet her after school. Afterwards, she went to school, but yet again she fell again… Yukito then looks at the drawing and he was surprised that she drew dinosaurs and children in her drawing (yes, Misuzu seems to be very obsessed with Dinosaurs…). Afterwards, she saw a puppy and decides to do a puppet show, but it took the doll. Then he ran after the puppy to get the doll back. At the bridge, he tried to get the puppy, but fells into the river instead. Then a girl above the bridge asks Yukito what he was doing with the dog, which is a stray dog named Potato.
Another thing I also notice is that every Key story always have some kind of pet… be it a cat, a baby boar… and a dog
The girl helps Yukito out of the river, and then Yukito asks about the ribbon, but she said it’s a secret. Afterwards, She finally introduces herself as Kano, the 2nd girl in Yukito’s harem. Soon, they part since Kano have classes. Then, Kano suddenly asks if he wanted use magic when he was a little kid. He becomes confused and then she waves and left.
After picking up Misuzu, he said he made a million bucks, but he didn’t. Then he finds out that there is a lack of people due to the closure of the train station. Then, they start seeing bubbles, which is coming from a girl…
Misuzu then introduces Yukito to Minagi, one of her classmates which is very smart, top of her grade, and the president of the Astrometry Club. Then, a mysterious girl who wants to blow bubbles before it gets dark ran into Yukito which send him flying.
Afterwards, she introduces herself as Michiru which is Minagi’s friend. After Yukito got up, he got mad at Michiru for plowing into him. Then, Michiru calls him a pervert and Yukito hits her on the head… Even after introducing Yukito, they started to fight. Then, Michiru and Minagi walks home with each other.
Afterwards, they spend the evening at the sea wall and when Misuzu talks about the sky and then Yukito finally realizes her identity.
Overall, Episode 1 is done pretty well and was very entertaining. I was surprised on how well the animation was done… especially for an anime that was made in 2005. I give this episode a 9.2/10
OP/ED Thoughts
The OP/ED sounded great and fits well with the theme of the show… It seems that all of Key’s anime adaptations have good sounding music.
