Subsequently after the kidnapping of Rhiannon and her return, the Gaels become increasingly concerned about the growing threat from the Empire. Eventually, they decide to do what’s best… Attempt to forge an alliance with another clan.
From the start, I was a bit skeptical of Taliesin since he knew too much about the surroundings. He appears again when he meets Rhiannon at the empire’s base. His communication with Gaius made it seem like he is working with the empire even though he acts nice to the Gaels. Ultimately, he reveals himself as the leader of the Brigantes clan and a direct descendent of Pwyll. He is simply a daredevil because he takes a blow from an arrow and agrees to have a duel with Arthur shortly after. He is simply a mischievous man that knows how to fool everyone as shown with Arthur’s defeat.
When I saw the duel between Arthur and Taliesin, there was something off about the battle. Arthur tries to go easy on him because of his injury and it backfired. Taliesin never let up and eventually knocked the sword from his hands. Surprisingly he doesn’t kill him after realizing that Arthur is the successor of Pwyll. Pretty much everything went well in the end and the Gaels earned respect from the Brigantes. Besides this, I kind of enjoyed watching all the girls hold him down while Morgan delivers a punch to fix his dislocated shoulder. Even though it looks painful, he is one lucky bastard!
Although the preparation for the empire’s attack was steady, we learn a few things that we didn’t knew about the Brigantes. The clan has a cursed fate and the Gaels split apart from them. Also, watching Taliesin hugging Epona from behind was hilarious and they make a cute couple. Despite the newly formed alliance, there are still many challenges that Arawn and company has to overcome before the Empire attacks. We just have to wait and see as they explore a tomb full of menacing monsters to find treasure.
