In my last post, I focused on specific important and influential moments that happened on my blog and the aniblogosphere in 2010. In my opinion, 2010 was a good year for blogging, but how about 2011? There are many things I want to accomplish for New Year, but not everything can be done. It’s more like goals instead of resolutions since most people usually break it. Besides doing better in college, these are the five goals/resolutions I wish to achieve for the New Year. (Image Source)
- Get 50+ subscribers – It’s important to get people to subscribe and read my blog. This is probably the same goal if you run a blog and want to be successful. Posting interesting editorials, reviews and opinionated episodic posts convinces a person to subscribe and read the blog. The subscription number is essentially the performance of the blog besides the usual page views, visits and unique visitors. So far, I have 33 subscribers (accounting subscribers from Google Reader, Feedburner and Anime Nano), which makes it possible to get near or over 50 subscribers if I try hard enough.
- Finish my Backlog – Sadly, new Anime always delay the finishing of my backlog. This happened with Air and Kanon haven’t been finish until July and September of last year respectively. For this year, I will try my best to finish some or most of the backlog so I have room for more shows.
- Improve my writing… Even more! – Even though the writing was acceptable from last year, I want to improve my writing even more since it’s important for both college and blogging. Improved writing skills will also help with #1.
- Write the reviews immediately after I finish a series. – Like #2, I should not delay writing the review and write it a day after I finish it. When I delay reviews, readers would probably lose interest on what I have to say about a specific completed series.
- Try to attend an Anime convention – I know this one will be iffy since I live in New Jersey and most of the fun conventions are in California and some other states. I may go if it’s possible since I want to meet with some bloggers in real life.
So, this pretty much wraps up the five important goals I want to achieve or exceed this year. It may be difficult, but awarding at the end.
Anyways, what are your resolutions you want to achieve this year Anime Related?
I’d better see some ARIA on here! Well, mostly because I’m really curious to see how you’ll take to that series given your enjoyment of K-ON! and all that.
I’m doing that… In fact, I have the first season boxset of ARIA from Rightstuff… I’ll get to that probably soon.
And one subscribes by hitting that ‘Subscribe’ button in the upper left corner of the webpage and choosing say ‘RSS’? Well make that number 29 because I would have done that a long time ago if I hadn’t thought that was done by simply commenting. Silly me. I follow your blog on and off most of the time anyway.
One of the things I like about your blog actually is the way you meticulously write your posts, always taking your time to do it instead of rushing it. So in that particular sense, I don’t think resolutions #2 and #4 are that necessary — though leaving Kanon and AIR unattended for several months is a blasphemy >:[
Seeing as how you liked ‘Haibane Renmei’ and the fact that we have similar tastes in anime, I hope you don’t mind me taking this opportunity to recommend a few for the year 2011:
The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the MOVIE 1st
-surely you have both of these movies already planned somewhere but I still cannot recommend them enough
Mushishi
Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone
-for expanding your taste which I believe you mentioned you wanted to do somewhere
Utawarerumono
.hack//SIGN
-only just started these, but the nice fantasy RPG feel they have to it (especially Uta..) can be highly contagious
I’m glad you like the review… As for subscribing, the best way to sub to blogs is to use Google Reader so when you using a different computer, you can still read all your feeds without adding them again. Also, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome has Google Reader extensions, which can notify you of new items…
Also, I will be doing the Haruhi movie and Nanoha Movie 1st in the near future. I first need to finish the first season first. I will also take the suggestions with a grain of salt.
FYI: The subscriber count only takes account of Google Reader subs, Anime Nano and Feedburner.
Okey-doke, I think I managed to do it via FeedBurner.
Just wanted to say I love the new banner and fonts, Tsukimiya Ayu FTW <3
I’ve actually been finishing my backlog lately! I’m currently watching less than 20 shows for the first time in years!
Actually, it’s less that 15! Usually I’m watching about 25 shows at once. This is nice!
At most, I watch up to 5 shows since it gets pretty chaotic to blog them while you watch it. Of course, if I only posted only the reviews/mid and first impressions… I guess it’s possible.
Then again, it depends on the shows I get interested in the season… Considering that I will probably watch 2 or 3 shows, I will get some of the backlog finished.
