Houkago Teibou Nisshi – Episode 10 – Fishing, the Old and Simple Way

September 8, 2020 by chikorita157 2 Comments

Obviously, Yuuki is up to something.

After Hina had to deal with herons eating her catch, she finally takes a break. Yes, she decides to fish without using a reel.

Finally, it’s summertime and it seems that Yuuki doesn’t want to do anything after eating an ice pop. Hina wants to fish something besides baby horse mackerels. After all, they did catch a lot of them. Natsumi suggests Hina to do something different. Yes, it’s doing some lure fishing and catching some sea bass.

Since sea bass are larger than a flathead, Hina doesn’t think she can do it. She eventually gives it a try when Yuuki decides to do it. Yes, they are using a similar fishing rod they used to catch shrimp. This time, they will use a fishing bob on the line. Also, they are fishing for bigger horse mackerels.

The fishing rod Hina is using is like the one that is she uses for fishing. Besides being a lot longer, it can bend too. Yes, Hina becomes surprised by how long the rod is. When Hina saw the bob go down in the water, she pulled the fishing rod.

Hina’s first catch in her first attempt of bob fishing.
Obviously, she is really enjoying this.
While Hina seems to like how cute putter-fish are, it’s a waste of bait. After all, they are poisonous.

Yes, she panicked, but she managed to pull it out. She became surprised that a small fish came out despite requiring a lot of force. Still, Hina seems to enjoy it as they fish out various types of fish. She even catches a putter fish, which is a waste of bait since the fish is poisonous. Still, I find it strange how Hina finds this fish cute. Nevertheless, I find it funny how Natsumi suggests Hina to throw the fish as far as she can. That is so she won’t catch it again.

At last, Hina catches a regular horse mackerel.

Towards the evening, it seems that they aren’t having much luck. Eventually, Hina manages to catch a big fish. After all, during the evening, all the small fish went into hiding since the big fish come to the bay to feed. She eventually catches a regular horse mackerel. Yes, it’s the fish that Yuuki is after. Either way, how pretty the horse mackerel’s scales are amazes Hina.

It seems draining the blood of all the fish is too much for Hina. It’s obvious that Yuuki wanted to see this reaction.

However, that feeling goes away as she drains the blood of all the fish she catches. In other words, Makoto have to carry her back after she lost all the energy from having to see blood. To make matters worse, Makoto teaches how to fillet a fish for sashimi. Of course, Hina’s attempt of pretending the fish as a plushie didn’t quite work out since the cut isn’t that good. Thankfully, Makoto manages to fix it up in a nice dish.

Also, she also shows an alternative way to fillet a fish in a refrigerator after soaking it in saltwater. Hina and Natsumi becomes amazed by how the fish turned out after it dries out in the refrigerator. They will use these fish on the grill.

Hina thought this is juice. Sadly, it’s beer.
At least Sayaka didn’t drink before eating.

Of course, Sayaka shows up, yes with beer and a smoker. Apparently, she also does some animal hunting on the side. As expected, all the drinks in the cooler is beer. Yes, that dreadful day is coming as Sayaka is going to become drunk, again. Thankfully, the food turned out well. It seems that Sayaka didn’t eat all the food, although we didn’t see what happened afterwards.

Besides that, it seems that from the preview, it focuses on a beach. Is it an actual beach episode, go out to sea to fish or crab hunting? We’ll find out next time. ¶

    Yuuki’s foxy smirk is heavenly.

Surprised Miss Sayaka’s a hunter. Then again she loves meat so it shouldn’t be surprising.

Yes, Yuuki when she is in fox mode is great and funny. But I agree, that Sayaka surprises me. I don’t think she is the type that would hunt deers and such. Still, it’s amazing.
