Every year, I always do the twelve days of Anime thing and this year is no exception. Instead of sharing twelve moments related to Anime, I will share my thoughts on twelve anime girls from shows aired in 2016. This only includes new series, not sequels.
Top Speed (Murota Tsubame) (Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Seikaku)
Compared to all the magical girl designs in Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Seikaku, Top Speed obviously had the best design. Her character is a cute witch. Aside from appearance, I like her personality since she looks after Ripple as a mentor. There is no wonder Ripple considers Top Speed as her best friend.
While it’s funny to see her get into disagreements with Ripple, she was a good mentor as she tried to keep Ripple out of trouble. It’s such a shame that Top Speed didn’t survive after she defeats Calamity Mary with Ripple’s help.
Nene (Koukaku no Pandora)
Aside from being half-cyborg, it’s easy to love Nene. Aside for her love for Clarion, she uses her special powers to help people out ranging from old ladies to children. She even saves the whole island from being destroyed from a rampaging BUER. In short, she is amazing.
Amayadori Machi (Kumamiko)
I feel sympathetic towards Machi since she thinks people who live in cities make fun of her. Despite this, she is an enjoyable character. It’s because she knows very little about technology and city life yet she wants to attend school in a city. While I didn’t like how the show ended, her reactions are hilarious, especially when it involves Natsu.
Kawakami Mai (Musaigen no Phantom World)
It’s quite obvious why Kawakami Mai is on this list. Aside from being a phantom hunter and fighting them physically, she has a nice figure. That was important when her team tried to get rid of the monkey phantom in the eighth episode. Also, she was a great mom when Haruhiko turned into his younger self.
Tsushima Yoshiko (Love Live Sunshine)
Like with Kanzaki Ranko from Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, it’s easy to like Yoshiko. She is another Chuunibyou girl who refers herself as “Yohane,” the fallen angel. No matter how many times she wants to become normal, her friends won’t let it happen. Maybe the girls enjoy her alter ego or she likes being Yohane but won’t admit it.
Kumegawa Botan (Anne Happy)
It’s easy to feel sorry for Botan since she injures herself easily. It’s not surprising since she has poor health. Despite this, it’s amazing that she is able to treat herself rather quickly, but not anyone else. This is ironic since she comes from a family who are doctors. Still, she has a nice figure compared to the whole cast.
Hagyuu Hibiki (Anne Happy)
Sure, Hibiki almost looks like Kirima Syaro, except with red hair, she has an enjoyable personality. Aside from being a Tsundere towards most of her friends, except Ren, her bad sense of direction is funny. Not only that, she is stuck up as well. Because of this, she often gets into trouble.
Wilhelmina Braunschweig Ingenol Friedeburg (High School Fleet)
While High School Fleet had a huge female cast, there is one character that stood out for me. Yes, her name is Wilhelmina. Aside Kouko looking up to her, Wilhelmina is perhaps the most attractive girl out of the whole team. It’s mostly because she is a German exchange student who got rescued after being attacked by Admiral Spee. She also manages to help the Harekaze escape from sticky situations.
Also from watching all those movies, she became interested in Japanese culture. This can also explain why she became best friends with Kouko.
Suzukaze Aoba (New Game!)
I have to admit that I enjoyed New Game quite a lot. As you would expect, the main Aoba has a cute appearance. Not only she looks up to Kou for making her favorite game, she loves her work on Fairies Story 2. Her cheerful personality and of course occasional ship teasing towards Hifumi makes her a very enjoyable character.
Takimoto Hifumi (New Game!)
While Hifumi have a timid personality, I liked her character more when she became more open. Yes, Aoba made it possible, which can explain why she developed feelings towards her. Aside from being knowledgeable, she is also into cosplay as well and she looks good doing it.
Suzunoki Rin (Bakuon!!)
We can’t forget Suzunoki Rin, who is the biggest Suzuki fangirl. She likes Suzuki so much that she wears a biking outfit with its logo. Sure, she is the most attractive girl from the cast, but you can’t deny her brand loyalty to Suzuki. No matter Onsa’s harsh criticism towards Suzuki, to Rin, she believes that Suzuki is the ultimate bike, especially the Katana. Just don’t tell her that her bike is a used one.
Lillie (Pokémon Sun and Moon)
Compared to previous Pokémon games, Lillie is a very interesting character given how mysterious she is. Her appearance shows that she came from a rich family. This makes you wonder why she is working with Professor Kukui as an assistant
Aside from her cute looks, she also has a Cosmog, a cute legendary Pokémon that can open “ultra-holes.” Of course, Lillie telling her Cosmog to get in the bag sprung up a lot of memes.
As for her anime counterpart, her character is just as enjoyable. Although she is afraid of Pokémon, she manages to hook in a Milotic. She also loves Pokémon as well.
I hope you enjoy my 12 Days of Anime. With that, feel free to share your thoughts about your favorite girl in Anime from 2016. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. ¶
