Kud’s mother may look cute, but…
Continuing from where we left off after a detour, we focus more on Kud. Needless to say, I’m amazed to see that they never mentioned her mother until now. While she wasn’t around to take care of her because she wanted to chase her dreams of going to SPACE, I was not surprised when I saw her in a similar outfit that her daughter is currently wearing. She apparently taught her the special song and probably the ritual thing. Aside from that, I was heartbroken when she had her dream end after the rocket exploded. She worked so hard to reach that goal. This can explain why Kud didn’t watch the launch since she probably feared this possibility.

From the look of things, this arc does have some similarities to Kotomi’s arc from Clannad. Both of these characters lost their parents that wanted to carry out a specific dream and become devastated shortly after. From this, I wonder how this will play out since Kud didn’t really have any friends before joining Little Busters. Then again, I think Riki will use his magic to help comfort her like he did with the other girls.

On a brighter note, there were some interesting moments. First of all, I love Yuiko’s imagining Kud and eventually Riki in a maid outfit. They look cute, although he doesn’t approve. The second is the naming of the dogs. Apparently they caught on the Russian Reversal joke as they name the dogs the opposite from their personality. Moreover, Kud is named after a dog that went into space. Because of this, I was tempted to title this post “Little Busters – Episode 21 – In Soviet Russia, Dogs names YOU,” since Kud was named after a dog. After that tragic scene at the end, I decided against it since it was too clichéd and would have spoiled a rather serious moment.
I really need to prepare myself. Next week is going to be a drama week…:(
Yes, I think I need a box of tissues before I can get through such a sad episode next week.
Come on, guys…what’s the worst that could happen? Character death? That’s not so bad…
It gets a lot worse in Episode 23… 22 isn’t too bad.
Kud’s going to have two more episodes, her arc’s end isn’t next chapter e.e
Usually three episodes are reserved for each arc, so probably the next episode will be the last, unless the producers decide to extend it. I doubt it since they only have like 5 episodes left.
