Fate/zero – Episode 2 – The Last Servant and Ilya’s Cuteness

October 9, 2011 by chikorita157 4 Comments

Forgetting about the horrifying scenes that happens later, let's enjoy Ilya's cuteness instead...

Even though this episode is not long compared to last time, but damn! One of the scenes shown in the middle was really gruesome that I jumped out of my seat, literally.

Too bad he got the most pitiful master ever came to mankind.

Believe it or not, Weaver is the comic relief of the whole series mostly from his foolish personality. It’s just amusing to see him get frustrated and unable to control his servant, Rider. He even goes so far and almost used one of his command seals. Thankfully, he calmed down and don’t use it up. Aside from that, Rider looks badass and humorous at times. Too bad his hero is pathetic and unfit for the war. Hopefully Weaver manages to shapes up when things get serious or he might bite the dust shortly after the war starts.

Of course, she is still cute while being angry...

In addition, we get to see a small glimpse of Kiritsugu and Ilya playing in the snow. Compared to her personality in Fate/stay night, she is simply adorable when she is in the snow finding buds.  Of course, anything that has snow brings allure and happiness most of the time. It’s also nice to see that Saber is on the same page of Kiritsugu’s and Irisviel’s intensions to save the world. Although it a difficult feat, it’s meaningful considering how bad some peoples’ intentions can get. This holds true as Ryuunosuke manages to summon Caster (aka Bluebeard) while killing off a whole family.

After watching the gruesome acts that Ryuunosuke and his servant Caster did, it’s clear that I won’t like them at all. Murdering the whole family except the child was bad enough. When Caster tricked the boy, he brutally slaughters him without taking any notice. This frightened me because the way he murdered the child was unimaginable. Then again, it demonstrates how messed up and dangerous this duo can get from what they have shown along with their evil intentions. Either way, it shows how dangerous this Grail War is, especially when these psychopathic killers joins the fray.

Considering that Ryuunosuke had summoned the last servant, the war has finally begun with a preemptive attack from Assassin at a mansion. Although his moves to avoid the lasers were cool, he didn’t get a chance to fight back as Archer killed him instantly. This was very pathetic on Kirei’s part since he didn’t anticipate this outcome.  From this, it does not hide the fact that the war is shaping up into something rather dangerous and epic.

Just a reminder: Please do not post any spoilers to Fate/stay night in the comments. If you still have the urge to do so, use the [spoiler] tags so I don’t see it. ¶

I would strongly discourage the author to assume stuff like ‘This was very pathetic on Kirei’s part since he didn’t anticipate this outcome. ‘.
Gen is a superb writer and if you read the novel, you would realize that things aren’t that SIMPLE…….

In my defense, I haven’t read the light novels, so I can’t possibly know what will happen next. It’s fair to say that Weaver will eventually change his attitude as his character gets developed more. Besides that, I do not underestimate what Urobochi has in store for the story. At this point, not much can be said about the characters so far.
