Valentines Day Special – My Favorite Idols

For those who celebrate, I hope everyone a Happy Valentines Day/Singles Appreciation Day. To commemorate this faithful day, I want to focus this week’s opinion piece on my favorite idols from The Idolmaster. I know people will have different opinions since they are many to choose from and I will respect that. (Image Source)

The iDOLM@STER 2 Let’s Play Plans

So, I heard you like nekomimi...

As I go into my fifth week of college, Spring Break approaches in about a month. Therefore, I’m finally sharing my plans of the first video “Let’s Play” of The iDOLM@STER 2.

Of course, there are reasons why I held this off for a bit. First and obvious was SOPA/PIPA, which got defeated. If those legislations were to pass, it would have been illegal for me to record footage, put commentary on it and upload it even though it’s legal under fair use. Second, I want to become confident enough and get the “true ending,” which I did in my last play through back in the second week of January.  Therefore, I feel ready to start making the recordings when the time comes and spend my entire weekend recording until I finish my produce.

So, how will this work? I already have a standard definition capture card, a good video editing program and the game. I still need to get a S-Video cable for the Playstation 3 to improve the picture quality. Once I get that, I will do a full recording with my commentary when I go on break. During the gameplay, I will explain how the game works in the first 10 weeks and do the vending machine tutorial. However, I won’t be able to translate any of the dialogs since I still haven’t got that far in my Japanese self-study. Even so, I won’t skip through it so you can read it on your own time. Once the recording gets done, I will release one episode each week in the “Idolmaster 2 Let’s Play” category, which will consist of 10 in-game weeks each episode.

Aside from that, this is what I have planned thus far for the play through in March:

Unit Name: (はる)(おんな)() – (Lit. Spring Girls)

Tentative Unit Members: Miki (Leader), Chihaya, Yukiho

Tentative Song List: (any song over 150 BPM), Relations,七彩(なないろ)ボタン,Do-Dai, (DLC Song? -自分(じぶん)Rest@rt or Change!!!!)

For now, if you have any suggestions or concerns, voice them in the comments and be sure to check it out once I’m ready to publish them!

Thoughts about The iDOLM@STER 2 – Probably the Most Fun I have from a Music Game thus far…

This expression at the sight of Jupiter never gets old.

Have you ever dream of raising a Japanese pop idol? If so, Idolmaster is the game that allows you to. Surprisingly, I haven’t heard much about the game even though I have seen other fellow anime bloggers played the actual game. This is mostly because typical Namco refuses to localize the game (and others) for obvious reasons and that it’s originally on the Xbox 360, a console I do not want to own. Sure, a PSP version of the original game and the Nintendo DS spinoff, Dearly Stars eventually came out. What made me interested in playing the game is the Anime that recently finished. When I heard that there is a Playstation 3 version of the second game, I just had to play it. It basically motivated me to learn Japanese and thus, I gave it a spin.

The iDOLM@STER 2 is a “second vision” game in the series that puts a lot of emphasis on “Unity” (or 団結(だんけつ)) as shown in the Anime. In this game, you have to create an idol unit with three members (leader and two sub members) and manage them so you achieve the top position in the Idol Academy.  Like in the older games, the choices you make are crucial in order to succeed. Since I played the game for most of my winter vacation, I may as well share my thoughts about the gameplay rather than writing a full review.
