Irisviel finally makes a surprise appearance to cheer her daughter up.
I felt that Illya simply lacks self-confidence and I don’t blame her. She is capable of becoming a heroic spirit and flying, but afraid that she will mess up again and get her friend angry. However, what I liked about Irisviel coming back is questioning the reason why Illya is not helping her friend after listening about Miyu in the bath and making her feel better. It seems that Illya is afraid of the power inside her even though she wan
ts to help her friend. I think Irisviel knows that even though Illya’s hidden power never got explained outright. This is probably why Irisviel wants to comfort her so that her daughter will come in terms with this power. I’m glad that she did so that Miyu can be saved from Beserker’s attack.
On the other hand, I knew that Miyu couldn’t handle Beserker alone, especially for the fact that she sent away Rin and Luviagelita. While we get to see her become Saber through the same method Illya used, I figured that there are going to be limitations for the fact that she doesn’t have an unlimited mana supply compared to Illya. Because of that, she got into an unfortunate situation where she loses all her powers. Still, I thought her match against Beserker was rather good for the fact that she managed to use Saber’s most powerful attack and killed him at least three times.
With the last-minute save Illya made at the end, I wonder how Illya will fare in the final battle as she finally accepted her powers. I think it will go well. Even so, it’s kind of sad to see how fast this show went by, but hopefully the finale won’t disappoint. ¶
